Selena Gomez Goes Retro Blonde for Billboard, Skips Over Justin Bieber

Selena Gomez is showing off another side to her bubbly personality, going blonde and beautifully retro on the cover of Billboard magazine. In the issue, the Disney starlet dishes on just about everything but her boyfriend Justin Bieber. But she really doesn't have to say a word because her flirty cover speaks volumes.
Gomez may be a bit under the weather right now, in and out of the hospital since her appearance on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno last Thursday night; however, the pretty young star was positively radiant for Billboardwith her bronzed body, blushed cheeks, hot pink lips, and platinum, tightly wound locks, as seen on Deadbolt.com.
The rosy makeup look may have been fairly standard for the 18-year-old singer-actress, but her hair most certainly was not. Selena Gomez has become known for her long dark mane, but she traded in her signature hair for a statement-making blonde 'do. Fans of Gomez's natural roots need not fret, though, as her blonde moment was just a wig.
While the lighter style looks adorable on Selena Gomez, it also comes across as a bit contrived. She was obviously channeling her inner actress and playing a part while posing for the cover shoot. Nevertheless, her energetic personality definitely managed to shine through the wig and the rest of her "costume."
And what a costume it was! Gomez donned a retro-style, bright yellow bathing suit that looks like it could have been worn by '40s swimming stunner and Hollywood star Esther Williams. And it seems like Prince William and Kate Middleton's Royal Wedding might have even inspired part of Gomez's look on the Billboard cover. Gomez wore a creative hat cocked atop her blonde curls that would have fit in perfectly with the millinery madness at the Royal Wedding.
With a bright, fun cover that playfully pictures Gomez, Billboard is obviously banking on plenty of interested readers and fans of both her and Justin Bieber. But Beliebers might be disappointed, as Gomez focuses her interview mainly on her Hollywood inspirations, her mother, and her career, admitting that she's trying to steer clear of her teeny-bopper past and forge a new, more mature path. And with her scantily clad, but still classic and tasteful, Billboard cover, it seems she is one step closer to putting Disney behind her.
